Background

Strategically based in the industrial hub of Penang, Malaysia, MoBif was conceptualized to promote the use of advanced technology to facilitate and enhance the process of communication, enabling people to connect with each other across the barrier of space and time.

Since its inception on 3 December 1999, wholly-Malaysian owned MoBif's success story has been remarkable. Starting from scratch and virtually unknown then, MoBif has progressed into an internationally-acclaimed telecommunications company in the Asia Pacific region. We were accorded MSC status in 2001 and our strong business performance has enabled us to be listed on the Malaysian Mesdaq in May 2004. Today, MoBif's authorized capital stood at RM300 million with a paid-up capital of RM26.8 million.

Initially the principal activities of the Company are specializing in Internet Based Surveillance Systems, Vision Automation Systems and other information technology services such as systems integration, support services and training. MoBif moved into the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) market in 2004 to capitalize on customer demand. MoBif’s VoIP which runs on SIP (Sessions Initiations Protocol), provides true convergence as its products and solutions covers both the traditional and PC telephony space.

MoBif Berhad has involved in the development of iBurst Wireless Broadband access solution in year 2007. iBurst is a broadband internet access solution that provides wireless, secure and true mobile high-speed broadband connectivity to the internet. It offers downlink speeds of up to 1,061kbps per subscriber and uplink speeds of up to 346kbps.

Within a short span of time, MoBif has won the trust of its customers and today, our brand name has become synonymous with quality technology that is effective in connecting people.

Business Performance - Listed in Mesdaq after 4 years of operations. Sales Revenue - According to DELOITTE standard, MoBif Berhad achieved 427% growth in 2004 and 668% in 2005 respectively vis-a-vis the previous 3 years performance. International Recognition - DELOITTE Technology Fast500 Asia Pacific Award in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 as the best, innovative and fast growing technology company amongst the top 500 companies in Asia Pacific. - Ranked top 79 in 2004 Deloitte Award and top 66 in 2005 Deloitte Award.

Chief Executive Officer - Mr Kevin Leong Kong Hoy , a Malaysian, born 1968. He obtained a Master of Science in IT from Warwick University, United Kingdom in 1992, He started his career as an engineer in Seagate (M) Sdn Bhd ("Seagate") in March 1993 and worked his way to become the IT Director there before leaving in December 2003. In Seagate, he was responsible for its IT divisions in three separate manufacturing plants located in Penang, Ipoh and Thailand where he managed the engineering automation of the plants with an objective to fully automate its production lines. He was involved in the establishment of the IT division in Seagate's manufacturing plants located in Ipoh and Korat, Thailand. He was also the chairman of Seagate Engineering Council to implement an "Advanced Manufacturing System Concept" for Seagate.

Chief Technology Officer - Mr. Lau Sze Ming , a Malaysian, born 1971, oversees the Company's activities related to R&D and product development such as software development cycle including high-level system design, software development, application testing and implementation. Lau obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from the Michigan Technological University, USA in 1993. He then worked for Seagate (M) Sdn. Bhd. for about 7 years before joining MoBif.

Chief Financial Officer - Mr. Lee Chin Soon , a Malaysian, born in 1968, joined the Company in July 2006 as the Financial Controller and currently is the Chief Financial Officer of the Company. He is primarily responsible for the overall finance and accounting performance of the Group. Mr. Lee graduated from Tunku Abdul Rahman College with a Diploma in Commerce in 1992 and obtained the Associated Membership of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA, UK) in 1996. He is also a Chartered Accountant of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). Mr. Lee started his career in a Chartered Accountants firm. Mr. Lee has gained accounting knowledge and experiences from his former manufacturing and commercial listed companies. He has undertaken various functions such as financial and management accounting, costing, budgeting, treasury and taxation.

Director of Finance - Ms. Leong Kwai Cheng , a Malaysian, born in 1966, is employed as a Director of Finance for MoBif Berhad. Ms. Leong obtained a certificate in advanced accounting from the London Chamber of Commerce (UK) in 1987. She started her career with Asas Dunia Berhad, a property development company in Penang, as an Accounts Assistant in 1986. She left in 1989 to join Zenmax Sdn Bhd as an Accounts and Costing supervisor. In 1996 she joined Spem Industries Sdn Bhd, a manufacturing company, as its Accounts and Administration Manager. Ms. Leong is primarily responsible for the financial control of the Company including financial planning, contract management, purchasing, accounting and administration for the Group.

Business Development Director - Mr. Michael Wong Sing Lung , a Malaysian, born in 1960, joined the company in year 2006 as Business Development Director. Michael obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of New Brunswick, Canada and also possesses a Master of Business Administration from Universiti Sarawak Malaysia (Unimas). Prior to joining MoBif Berhad, he was the Regional Manager of NEC Malaysia for 12 years and is responsible in the sales and marketing as well as customer services of ICT products. In MoBif Berhad he is responsible in the business development, sales and marketing, operations and government liaison of the company.
